Reg Macdonald brings years of relevant experience to his role as a Senior Partner at MKW Capital. Prior to accepting his current position, Macdonald served as Acting CEO at Viva Macau Airlines, where he helped the executive team sustainably increase sales by 80%. He also led third-party negotiations prior to expropriation by the Macau government during his tenure.
Reg Macdonald co-founded MKW Capital in 2005 and continues to serve as a Senior Partner for the company. With its diverse portfolio of Macau businesses, MKW Capital supports the growth and expansion of Macau’s newest international tourism attraction, New Macau. Macdonald plays a leading role in the company’s investments and operations, which span multiple industries, including travel, media, and tourism.
Prior to founding MKW Capital, Reg Macdonald served as the Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions at Morgan Stanley. As a manager of cross-border transactions, Macdonald handled assignments in China, Japan, Taiwan, Europe, and the United States. His most notable achievements in this role include the restructuring and stock swap of Nissan-Yulon Motors and the sale of Toshiba’s DRAM assets to Micron. The value of his major transactions averaged $1 billion, requiring complex analysis and negotiation.
In addition to his leadership in the business world, Macdonald acted as an Assistant Professor and Visiting Lecturer at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He taught graduate-level students within the Engineering Management department and acted as an adviser to Chinese companies on mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to beginning his professional career, Reg Macdonald attended Stanford University on the National Science & Engineering Research Council Scholarship, completing his Master of Science. He then studied engineering and infrastructure management at the University of Tokyo. While earning his doctorate in Tokyo, Macdonald received the National Education Ministry Scholarship.
